Childcare
We love children in church, and all children are welcome to stay with parents in the Sanctuary during worship. However, for parents of children ages 0-3 years who want nursery care during the 10:00 am services on Sunday (and other special services throughout the year), we have a well-equipped and professionally-staffed nursery at the end of the hall nearest the Sanctuary. Each child brought to the nursery is given a number; only the parents of the child can take the child from the nursery. If a parent is needed during worship, the child’s number will appear (in red LED’s) on the black panels beneath the hymn boards on both walls in the Sanctuary. Please bring any diapers, snacks, and formula needed for your child.
Christian Education
St. Timothy’s offers four different curriculums for our children and youth from preschool to 12th grade. Children from preschool through 2nd grade attend Godly Play, a Montessori-based curriculum that uses hands-on storytelling and wondering to introduce children to the Bible stories and church traditions. Children in grades 3-6 use a Spark curriculum which combines reading from the Bible with a rotation of different activities – art, drama, music, games – that pair with each story. Comprehensive Christian Education for youth in grades 6-12 is divided into two classes. All children and youth attend services with their family on the first Sunday of each month.
All classes, with the exception of grades 9-12, are held on the lower level of the building. Drop off of children may occur up to 10 minutes prior to the Service start time. High school classes meet in the loft above Henry Hall. Children who attend Sunday School rejoin their parents in the Sanctuary during the Peace prior to Eucharist, about 45 minutes into the service. (See the facilities map for more details).
Separate classes are offered for youth in preparation for Confirmation as well as a Eurcharist class (held every other year) for children in 3rd and 4th grade. An annual Vacation Bible School is conducted for one week in July.
All volunteer superintendents and teachers follow child safety and supervision guidelines. Please fill out a registration form for your children so that we know how to contact you.
