sidebar-youthOur Youth Group welcomes all 6-12th graders. We seek to build a community in which people can share who they are with each other and experience Christ in their midst. Gatherings provide opportunities for fellowship, service, and spiritual growth. Members work with adult coordinators to plan fun events and to engage in meaningful service of others, including making bagged lunches for local homeless shelters, participating in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine, assembling infant care kits for young mothers, and taking an annual mission trip to repair houses in Dungannon, Virginia (Appalachia).

We serve our parish community by annually hosting coffee hour, a children’s Halloween Party and an Easter Egg Hunt, and by setting up luminaria for Christmas Eve.  Each year, older youth come together for special classes to prepare for Confirmation and get to know God, the Bible, and each other better. Finally, we simply enjoy each other’s company at events like the ski trip, laser tag, bowling, cookouts, outdoor adventures, and other excursions.

Antietam Memorial Illumination

Each year the youth of St. Timothy’s participate in the setting out and lighting of 23,000 candles in Sharpsburg, Maryland, one for each soldier killed, wounded, or missing after the battle at Antietam. The Illumination occurs the first Saturday in December every year, and is free and open to the public. The five mile route by car through the battlefield is illuminated only by the candlelight.

Milestones Ministry provides a faith milestone as a marker along life’s journey that says, “ This is something important, and God is here, too.” It is a faith formation practice for both home and congregation that helps all generations recognize God’s presence in everyday life.
